“This is not philanthropy. This should be a cost of doing business. It’s paying rent for our use of the planet.”
- YVON CHOUINARD Founder of Patagonia and 1% for the Planet
Our families came to Naples 50 years ago, drawn by the beautiful beaches, crystal clear water and biologically diverse wetlands. We want Florida's natural beauty to be our children’s legacy too. That is why we are thrilled participate it the following initiatives.
SOLAR POWERED STUDIO
In 2021 we installed 34 solar panels, enough to offset our glassblowing furnace for the year. This came after years of debate, skepticism and feet dragging. It turned out to be one of the easiest and most rewarding changes we have made. Best of all, it pays for itself and did not cost us anything out of pocket. Curious about adding it to your home? We'd love to share our experience and help someone else stop dragging their feet.
In 2022 our goal was to become a carbon neutral business. It's exciting how many different options there are available, not just for businesses seeking to offset their footprint, but individuals too. After evaluating all the ways we could reduce our energy consumption, we calculated the business' unavoidable usage. We then chose to purchase carbon offsets through TerraPass to offset that usage. Learn more about their mission and use their very simple calculator to offset your personal carbon footprint. It's so easy and feels so good!
ONE TREE PLANTED FOR EVERY WORKSHOP PURCHASED
One Tree Planted is one of our favorite organizations.
WHY ARE TREES IMPORTANT TO THE ENVIRONMENT?
"Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Have you ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!" - Hear more about their organization at onetreeplanted.com

THE STORY OF FLORIDA
IS A STORY OF WATER.
"The Florida Peninsula is one of the most unique landscapes on earth. Periodically inundated in a sub-tropical setting, it features one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world, the Everglades. The control of this water—draining it, redirecting it, and containing it—has been an evolving story over the last two centuries of man versus nature. And a story where there is no true winner, unless we can find a balance that ensures the ongoing health of each."
